Dear Readers, this is a very special issue, for it marks our 58th Anniversary of telling you about this extraordinary and wonderful place called Arizona's White Mountains. In 2009 our 55th commemorative issue I had the sad duty of telling of the death of our Founding Publisher, Norman W. Mead. In 1947, my father and mother came to the White Mountains and fell in love. A few years later, they had a vision for a way to spend time in, and start a business here in this amazing place, and so began a 55-year journey for Norm. This year we looked back at the collection of my father's work and have assembled a sample of his writing and photography. We hope you enjoy the experience of being in the White Mountains as much as my family has over the last 220 seasons!
In that time of transition, I had another announcement to make. My daughter, Shilo, has given birth to Cyrus Mead, which means there's a new "Grand¬pa Mead" – me. I look forward to the day I can share the experience of the White Mountains with my grandson the way my father shared his with me and his grandchildren, and as Arizona’s White Mountains has shared it with many of you. In closing, we dedicate this issue to a visionary, an entrepreneur, an extraordinary photographer and a wonderful father and grandfather, Norman W. Mead. Thanks for the guidance, Dad.
